Okay, Ladies---we scolded the men for putting a wallet in their back pocket, and now it's time for us to scold you too---your shoes might be causing your back pain!
Although you want to be fashionable, those flats or heels might be reeking havoc on your back, and here's why...
Let's look at flats: Wearing flat shoes does not give your feet proper support. This causes your feet to turn inward, which puts pressure on the knees and hips. The entire spine shifts to compensate for this unevenness. This shift can cause low back and hip pain.
Now. lets talk about high heels. When you wear high heels, it causes you to lean forward. To compensate for this leaning forward, you naturally will shift your body weight back to keep from falling over. Holding yourself in this unnatural position all day can cause muscle fatigue and spasms in the back and hips.
Not only can these two types of shoes cause back pain, it can also cause foot, ankle, and knee pain.
So what is the remedy? Although fashion can cause you to want to wear flats and heels often, try to keep wearing them to a minimum. Wear good supporting shoes like tennis shoes. Your back will thank you!
