There are many ways to go about achieving neck pain relief. It is always recommended that you seek medical attention if the pain is chronic or severe, but if your pain is mild, you may be interested in some of these at home methods of relieving the pain in your neck. Let's take a look at some of these methods!

Manual Stimulation

Gentle traction and stimulation to the neck area can help elongate and ease muscles. This can allow nerves that have been pinched or blood vessels that have been compressed some relief which in turn eases your pain. When your muscles tighten and contract, they compress and constrict everything that is around them. Gentle stimulation and traction to the neck should improve the blood flow to the tightened area of the neck and in turn it should create more space and relieve the pressure that you are feeling. An easy way to do this safely is to lay flat on your back and take a towel folded lengthwise and put it under your head where your skull meets your neck. Have a friend gently pull the towel out towards them. For best results hold this position for up to three minutes.

Soaking in a Bath

A bath can be more than therapeutic it can also help relieve neck pain and muscle tension. Adding magnesium sulfate or Epsom salt to your next bath can really help your sore muscles, and not just in your neck! Epsom salt helps reduce the rate of calcium build up in the muscles after they contract. For best results add two cups of Epsom salt to your next bath and soak your neck for 15 to 20minutes.

Not all neck pain can be dealt with at home.
