Lower back pain plagues nearly 80% of Americans at some point in their lives. Because of this, we should always look for ways to improve ourselves, and with that in mind, here are five ways to improve your lower back pain.

  • Limit “Down Time”:

By this, we mean that you should limit the amount of time you are lying or sitting. Too much of this lack of activity can actually contribute to back pain rather than alleviate it.
  • Exercise:

Rather than sitting around, get up and run! Practicing healthy exercise on a regular basis is extremely helpful for alleviating lower back pain.
  • Practice Good Posture:

Try not to lounge too much over the course of the day. Sit up straight. Perhaps use an exercise ball or try a standing desk. This can work wonders on alleviating lower back pain.
  • Improve General Flexibility:

Try yoga or some kind of stretching regimen. This will loosen the muscles and allow them to take on more pressure otherwise taken on by the lower back. Make sure that you keep your back in a neutral position and do not put much strain on it.
  • Apply Cold and Heat:

If you injure your lower back directly, try applying cold packs up to the first 48 hours of the injury to help minimize damage and strain. After 48 hours, use heat packs to loosen the muscles and help repair any damage that occurs.

Lower back pain is a real bother. Fortunately, there are many ways to fix it. To talk more about this please contact us today so we can help you move beyond your lower back pain.
