Are you new to chiropractic?

If you're new to chiropractic care, you may have some anxiety about being treated. No need to worry; chiropractic is one of the most safe and gentle treatments for pain management available. So to put your mind at ease for your next visit, here's what to expect after chiropractic adjustment.

Immediate Relief

The first thing you may experience after your chiropractic adjustment is feeling great! Often, people who have been bothered with neck or back pain for years will experience immediate relief when they get adjusted, and a normal flow of nerve energy is restored.

If your spine has been out of alignment for a long time, you may feel 'crooked' or off-balance after being adjusted. This is because your bones and muscles have gotten used to being out of whack. Being realigned may feel odd at first, but don't worry, the feeling will go away quickly.

Mild Soreness

Another symptom you might experience is soreness. Slight discomfort around the muscles and joints is caused, again, by the spine being out of alignment for a period of time. After getting used to being in a certain posture for so long, your body doesn't want to get moved back into place! A mild pain reliever should take care of any soreness you feel after your chiropractic appointment. Any discomfort should go away within a couple of days - as soon as your body adjusts to being readjusted.

Regardless of how you feel right after your first adjustment, you should always make a follow-up appointment. Chiropractic is a completely natural way to help your body heal itself, but everyone's body is different: it may take a few visits to get you completely back into alignment.
