Whether mild or severe, chronic back pain gets in the way of daily living. If you suffer from chronic back pain, consider trying out chiropractic care.

About Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is considered pain anywhere in the body that lasts longer than six months. The pain can range from mild to excruciating and episodic to constant.

Chronic Pain Causes

There are two kinds of chronic back pain:

  • Identifiable pain generator In this case, there is a clear cause of the chronic back pain. It can be an injury, or a known structural spine condition.

  • No identifiable pain generator If the chronic pain began with no trigger, then there is no identifiable source.

Many elements can cause chronic back pain, including disk tear, spinal stenosis, scoliosis, and general stress are all chronic back pain generators. Chronic back pain with no identifiable pain generator is also quite common; spine holds the weight of the upper body and takes on a lot of mechanical stress. Consequently, general wear-and-tear with no specific injuries can commonly lead to chronic pain.

What chiropractic care can do for your chronic pain

Chiropractors use hands-on spinal manipulation to ensure proper alignment. The musculoskeletal structure is manipulated to restore joint mobility and restrictions caused by injury or stress. This allows the body to heal itself, often without surgery or medication.

Before beginning treatment, a chiropractor performs a physical examination and becomes familiar with the context and intricacies of your back pain.

Here at Lexington Family Chiropractic, we'll provide you with personalized treatment for your specific symptoms and needs. If you want more information, please contact us.
