When you’re in good health, it’s easy to imagine that you’ll stay that way forever. And ideally, you will! However, even if you’re currently in good health, spending some time to think about health maintenance can improve your chances of staying that way.

What is health maintenance?

Health maintenance is a plan made up of individualized practices that are designed to help you maintain your optimal health. This can include following healthy dietary guidelines, following an exercise routine that works well for your body, and scheduling regular visits with healthcare professionals. By doing your best to address your health now, you could be preventing serious health problems from developing down the road.

Why should I consider it?

As John F. Kennedy once said, “it’s easier to repair the roof when the sun is shining.” In other words, it’s much easier to regularly maintain your health than it is to try to address health concerns once they’ve developed into something serious.

Many people hesitate to pursue health maintenance practices because they’re concerned about the investment in time and energy. However, it’s much more expensive – and emotionally draining – to address health problems once they’ve become serious.

In addition, you may be surprised at how much better you feel once you start paying attention to your health on a regular basis. Many people become so accustomed to just feeling “okay” that they’re surprised to find out what it feels like to thrive on a daily basis.

Dr. Gallentine and the staff at Lexington Family Chiropractic are dedicated to helping you find ways to live the healthiest life possible. If you want to learn more about how chiropractic care can help you can maintain your optimal health, please contact us!
