We're quite a ways into the new year, and many people are still working hard on their resolutions. We've noticed that many people used to strive to lose weight as a resolution, but a shift has changed in our thinking and there is more of a focus on wellness, rather than a number on the scale. For those trying to achieve wellness goals, chiropractic care can help.

Just like wellness is more than a person's weight, chiropractic care is more than just dealing with sore backs and necks. Chiropractors undergo vast training in topics that many people wouldn't expect a "back doctor" to know about. Exercise physiology and injury rehabilitation are two areas in which chiropractors have a strong background, which can greatly benefit patients who are trying to reach wellness goals. In addition, chiropractors have a lot of knowledge about nutrition, and how it plays a part in overall health.

Patients who aren't experiencing wellness often have diagnoses that result in symptoms. Chiropractic care involves not only knowing the ins and outs of all medical conditions, but helping patients improve their condition by relieving those symptoms.

A recent study in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics found that patients who made chiropractic care a priority realized many benefits. The research showed that these patients lowered pharmaceutical costs by 51.8%, and required 43.2% less surgeries and medical procedures. In addition, chiropractic care translated to 43% less hospital admissions, and 58% fewer days in hospital care.

There are good news in these numbers. Chiropractic care is more than just finding relief from back pain. Chiropractors are wellness experts, who can address a variety of health issues. And continued care has proven itself to not only provide short-term relief, but put patients on a path of overall wellness that will prevent future health issues.

If you're making your health a priority and in the Lexington area, we would be happy to meet with you to discuss your wellness goals. For more information, contact us.
