The dreaded allergy season is upon us - sneezing, watery and itchy eyes, runny noses, sore throats and all. Despite the use of nasal sprays or allergy pills, scores of people are often still plagued by allergies. Many allergy sufferers are not aware, though, that chiropractic care can significantly reduce unbearable allergy symptoms. How?

In order to maintain a strong immune system, proper communication between the brain and the spinal cord is necessary to ensure that its functions are carried out. Misalignment, which can occur more often than you realize, can interrupt that channel of communication, thus compromising the strength of the immune system and making you more susceptible to allergies.

By correcting misalignment, proper communication between the brain and spinal cord is restored and any resulting irritation (which can exasperate allergies) is relieved.

In addition, chiropractic adjustments can help to regulate the production and release of inflammatory substances which increase aggravation during allergy season. One such inflammatory substance is histamine. Chiropractic adjustments can regulate the production of cortisol, an anti-inflammatory substance, which counteracts high histamine levels and provides much-needed relief.

Suitable for practically all ages, regular chiropractic care can aid in maintaining your body's natural balance and can fortify its ability to ward off dust, pollen, dander, spores and other allergy triggers.

We invite you to contact us here at Lexington Family Chiropractic. We would love to discuss what chiropractic care can do for you and your family. Don't let your allergies get the best of you this allergy season; fight back with chiropractic care!
