Ankle injuries can be intensely painful. Sometimes ankles are injured as simply as stepping incorrectly on your foot and having your ankle roll out from under you. If you have your ankle x-rayed you might be relieved to learn that it is not broken. It certainly seems like an injury to the ankle that didn't result in a fracture is a much better scenario.

Unfortunately, that's not always the case. Sometimes a fractured ankle actually heals more quickly than a sprained ankle. Certain sprains can continue to cause pain for months or even years. Traditional doctors are quick to treat breaks, but tend to ignore sprains with the advice to ice it and elevate it. So, what do you do when your sprained ankle leads to chronic pain that doesn't seem to improve with time?

Chiropractic care for ankle injuries can help your ankle heal properly. Ankle injuries that are not properly treated can result in a loss of the range of motion in your ankle, or a weakened joint that is more likely to be injured in the future. An injured ankle can put strain on other joints in your body, leading to back or neck pain that you might not associate with the ankle injury, but a chiropractor can offer you adjustments to keep everything properly aligned. A chiropractor will also work with you to perform range of motion exercises that increase the stability of your ankle, after a serious sprain.
